Premium Douglas Fir Bedding

Our premium douglas fir bedding is soft, resilient, and very comfortable. It also lasts longer than many species because Fir shavings are strong and have high fiber content. What makes our Douglas Fir Bedding so unique is that it’s not kiln dried (KD). The lumber is actually planed before the drying process. While this gives the bedding slightly higher moisture content than KD, it air dries quickly for year-around comfort.

Douglas Fir Bedding contains no toxins, is virtually dust-free, and won’t break down as fast in the stalls. It’s packed in the familiar blue bags you’ve seen at racetracks, riding clubs, veterinary clinics and equine hospitals. And while other bags may resemble our blue one, make sure you see the JTS logo. If it doesn’t say JTS, it isn’t.

premium pine animal beddingPremium Pine Bedding

Our premium pine bedding is Air-dried, screened, and very absorbent. Pine also has substantial fiber content, which promotes medium to long product life.

In 2007 we began custom shaving pine logs to assure the supply of pine shavings made specifically for bedding with a dust free product.

The pine shavings produced by JTS are from forests in the Western States and the result of thinning and logging projects being done to control dangerous forest fires we all see too often.

JTS Pine bedding is packed in a clear bag.

custom blend animal beddingCustom Blends

Many of our long-time customers request special blends. For example, a mix of 75% Douglas Fir and 25% Pine gives you softness, comfort, resiliency, and lots of absorbency. It can really help keep the dust down in dry weather. If you have a particular blend in mind, please talk with us about it. Together we can find a formula that will delight you, and your animals. All blended products are packaged in white bags.

Pricing Of Blends: At JTS we price our blends the same as our original fir product. Why go to the extra work of preparing specially blended products at no extra charge? We believe blends are an important part of offering the right product for the different climatic conditions found across the West. To learn more about blends, please give us a call.

Cedar

While used mainly for dog kennels, we have quite a few customers who prefer Cedar for horse bedding because of its pleasing aromatic smell. Cedar is also an exceptionally strong, hardy species with a great deal of fiber, which can extend bedding life.
